February Birthstone: Amethyst

Amethyst Birthstone Protection Stone

Despite being a common stone, Amethyst had held our fascination through the ages.

Amethyst ranges from very light to a deep, dark purple.  Purple has long been a color revered in royalty, and amethyst has been featured in their luscious wardrobes, elaborate crowns and stunning necklaces for ages.  Wearing the stone is often seen and felt as a symbol of empowerment and strength.

Amethyst is associated in Greek mythology with Bacchus, the God of Wine.  In fact, the word "amethyst" comes from the Greek word amethystos, which means "a remedy against drunkenness," and as such, the stone is used to quell intoxication as well as to support those battling addiction.  Amethyst has also been said to keep the mind clear and sharp and to curb passion when one lets it steer them too far off course.

I often use amethyst in my Custom Energy Bracelets.  It is a high vibrating protection stone associated with the crown chakra as well as the heart chakra, and assists in opening the heart and mind to divine love.  Amethyst also helps to overcome grief and sadness in order to come to terms with loss.

When I make custom pieces I always charge them on my amethyst crystal before sending them to their new home.  Read more about my deluxe cleansing process here!

If you are interested in creating your own custom piece, contact me!  Amethyst or otherwise, I'd love to create your special piece!
